As  the nationwide leader and champion for American Veterans, AMVETS facilitates access to the resources veterans need to live healthy lives, obtain full and timely benefits, achieve economic self-sufficiency, and enjoy good quality of life after serving in uniform.

Founded over 77 years ago, today’s American Veterans (AMVETS) has distinguished itself as an independent voice for veterans among the nation’s top Congressionally chartered veteran service organizations. Across the country our service offices provide vital services and support to our 250,000 members, as well as any veteran or family member who ask for our help.

At the grassroots level, our departments and posts provide a wide range of programs and services tailored to the needs of each community. Our ability to have an impact on the lives of so many veterans can be witnessed in every corner of our organization. Our national office partners with our posts to holistically address all aspects of veteran transition, from the pursuit of benefits to healthcare advocacy to career assistance. We have made great impact; however, the needs of too many veterans remain unmet. More than 20 veterans still die by suicide daily. Veterans are still waiting too long for disability claims. There are still some 40,000 homeless veterans. Veterans are still struggling for timely access to quality healthcare. But AMVETS is working hard to address these issues through targeted, deliberate strategies where the greatest measure of success is good quality of life for every veteran we touch.
