Easter Seals Nova Scotia advocates for a barrier-free province by promoting inclusion, independence, and mobility for Nova Scotians with disabilities.

We work towards these goals for one simple reason:
We envision a world where everyone is included.

Persons with disabilities face barriers and challenges every single day that many of us never have to consider.

Simple activities like enjoying the equipment at a local playground, or joining friends on the soccer field, or on the ice for a friendly game of hockey are simply not possible for many people who live with disabilities.

Other challenges include access to our built environments to support stable employment and career-building opportunities. These barriers, coupled with the expense of wheelchairs and other mobility equipment, can further limit inclusion and participation in a full life.

Since 1931, Easter Seals Nova Scotia’s primary focus has been to deliver high quality services and programs to children, youth, and adults with cognitive and/or physical disabilities.

We are the primary destination for Nova Scotians seeking information, support, equipment and opportunities. It’s our goal to create a culture of program excellence that supports our ability to meet the needs and improve the lives of persons with disabilities.

Per capita, Nova Scotia has the highest rate of self-identified disability in Canada with nearly 25% of the population living with differing abilities.

Last year, we directly helped over 2,900 people across the province. By extension, we serve thousands of others who access one of our programs for a loved one with a disability.
