About the DBNC and The Community Care Closet
The Dixie Bloor Neighbourhood Drop-In Centre (DBNC), was founded in 1988 by concerned members of the community to enhance the quality of life of those residing in the Dixie Bloor area. Located in the Burnhamthorpe Library building, DBNC has been an institution in the Peel region for our timely and responsive service delivery to newcomers, families, youth, children, seniors, and job seekers. All our programs are free of charge and strive to meet the needs of the community.
Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for our community members with impactful services and engaging programs that build stronger and progressive communities.
The Community Care Closet (CCC) was created to emulate DBNC's mission! The CCC opened in January 2023, which has brought access to food, health/ personal care products, and clothing for clients in need. This is our way of lending a helping hand to our community as best we can after the severe state we are left in after the Pandemic. Many individuals and families experienced job loss and lowered incomes during this time, which is still negatively impacting people’s ability to survive and provide for the household. Our goal is to build our community while preventing food and clothing insecurity in the DBNC area.
To do so, we require the generosity of donors like you to provide donations of our greatest needs. From hygiene products and winter warmth items to back-to-school supplies we rely on your support to better serve our community.
