At the Mobile Food Market we believe everyone deserves dignified access to fresh fruits and vegetables.

To us, access means having the money to buy food, the transportation to reach it, and the comfort of choosing fruits and vegetables that feel familiar. We know that barriers look different for everyone, but those most at risk include seniors living alone, people with mobility challenges, low-income families, and single parents.

The Problem

Rising inflation and the increasing cost of living are making it harder for individuals, families, and seniors across Nova Scotia to access fresh, healthy food. Public programs and policies often fall short, and there is a lack of sustainable government funding to address food insecurity. While food banks provide some support, many households don’t use them—sometimes because they are hard to reach or seen as a last resort—and they don’t address the root causes of food insecurity.

The Solution

The Mobile Food Market brings fresh fruits, vegetables, and essentials directly to communities that need them most. Through weekly community markets, seniors’ mini-markets, and bulk deliveries to organizations, we make healthy food accessible, affordable, and dignified for everyone.

The Barrier

Running these programs requires more than just food. Fuel for our vehicles, program costs, and the dedication of our team are essential—but without community support, we can’t reach all the individuals who need us.
